The Bangladesh Awami League has rejected the so-called โJuly Declarationโ as a malicious, politically motivated document issued by the clique of illegal usurper and murderous fascist Muhammad Yunus.
โToday, when Bangladesh is governed by one of the worldโs most exemplary constitutionsโwritten in the blood of millions of martyrsโintroducing a so-called declaration is nothing short of follyโฆwe categorically and with contempt reject this divisive attempt. It is a ploy to fracture the nation,โ the party said in a statement.
It said that the Yunus-led regime has, from the very beginning, pursued a politics of division.
โThey have systematically attempted to distort the history, spirit, and values of the Liberation War and diminish the unparalleled contribution of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmanโthe undisputed leader of Bangladeshโs hard-won independence.โ
โAs part of this ongoing agenda, this unconstitutional usurping group has released the so-called July Declaration.

July Declaration: Yunus glorifies anti-Bangladesh elements, distorts history
โThis declaration will be remembered in history as a shameful document of division, marked by extreme distortion of facts, fragmented narratives, and politically motivated hatred aimed squarely at the Awami League.
โIt represents a calculated attempt to sow discordโeven down to the personal levelโby weaponising division and disinformation.โ
The party called upon the people of Bangladesh not to surrender their future to these usurpers. โLike all their previous actions, this so-called declaration serves as a shield for anti-independence, anti-national, and anti-people forces.
โUnder the pretense of promoting democratic culture, they are not only concealing tyranny and militarism but trying to legitimise it.
โDuring the great Liberation War of Bangladesh, the entire nation stood united behind a single, historic documentโthe Declaration of Independence of the Sovereign Peopleโs Republic of Bangladesh.
โIt captured the hopes and aspirations of all classes and professions and served as a de facto constitution before the formal constitution was adopted.โ
Yunusโ sinister plan to rewrite Bangladesh’s Constitution
In July and August of 2024, under the banner of the so-called โJuly Movement,โ Bangladesh witnessed a violent, bloody, and anarchic episode whose brutality still lingers in the national consciousness. Police blood, public tears, the destruction of state property, and the collapse of the rule of lawโthese were the true faces of what has now been whitewashed as the โJuly Movement.โ
Now, a deep conspiracy is underway to absolve the masterminds behind this disaster and erase their crimes from history. At the heart of this plot is a proposal to insert the โJuly Charterโ into the Constitution. The goal? To legitimise the treason, terrorism, extortion, land grabbing, and killings committed in July 2024. And orchestrating this is none other than Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Yunus and his NCP alliance know well that the countryโs legal framework is not on their side. The Supreme Court has already struck down the 5th and 7th amendments, branding military takeovers and unconstitutional power grabs as treasonous. Article 7A of the Constitution classifies any illegal seizure of power as a criminal offense. Meaning: those who picked up arms under the โJuly Warriorโ banner are, by law, criminals.
This is the existential threat facing Yunus and his cronies. They know that once trials begin, many of them wonโt escape justice. Thus, they now seek an indemnity shieldโa โJuly Charterโ codified into the Constitutionโto protect themselves. Just like the Indemnity Ordinance of 1975 protected the killers of Bangabandhu, they aim to repeat history by laundering their crimes under the guise of constitutional reform.
But thereโs a constitutional wall in their way.
Article 150 of the Constitution clearly limits additional provisions to only those necessary between March 26 and December 16, 1971โthe period of the Liberation War. Nothing outside this scope may be added. Moreover, Article 7B stipulates that certain core sections of the Constitutionโincluding the Preamble and Parts I, II, III, and XIโare unamendable. Therefore, any attempt to include the โJuly Charterโ is not only unconstitutionalโit’s dangerous.
So why push for this, despite such clear constitutional restrictions?
Simple. They know that if trials begin, it will mark not just the fall of individuals but the collapse of their entire political project. They now want to recast their treason as heroism under the mask of โJuly Warriors.โ
But is this nation so forgetful?
Those who committed treason, terrorism, looting, murder, and extortionโcan they truly be called warriors? Noโthey are conspirators, power-hungry opportunists, and distorters of history.
In truth, the so-called โJuly Charterโ is nothing more than a political escape plan, trying to use the Constitution as a shield to cover up their crimes. But no one escapes accountability by betraying a nation, its Liberation War ideals, or the blood of its martyrs.
Let it be said clearly: The July Charter is a conspiracy of indemnity.
Yunus seeks to weaponise the Constitution to protect criminals. But the consequences of this conspiracy will be dire, because history records everything. And justice will come, sooner or later.
